We are so grateful to be included in "Homes of the Brave, Revolutionary War Patriots of Cumberland County".

This book was a labor of love by the Cumberland County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolutions (DAR). Their research uncovered 350 patriot houses still standing in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Our home is among the seventy included in this book.

Four thousand Patriots from Cumberland County participated in the Revolutionary War. Quartermaster Charles McClure was among those brave souls.

Charles purchased the property in 1772 and erected the 20'x48' original portion of the house. He lived there until his death in 1811. He is buried in the historic Carlisle Graveyard.
